Looks like people seems to appreciate the service provided by Symfonians.net. At least, they use it ! Here's some stats, three days after the site has been launched :
- 159 members has registered [1]
- 42 recommendations has been given [2]
- 56 applications has been added in the directory
- 40 companies has been submitted
- 9 job offers has been published
- A dozen XSS/CSRF attack attempts. Ouch!
I've just added some more cumulative filtering features on people, applications and jobs lists, so now you can :
- filter people available for hire, from a given country
- filter applications from a given country, filter only opensource ones [3]
- filter job offers proposed by a company, in a country and eventually accepting teleworking [4]
I've also slighly microformatted some detailled views like company and person pages, using hCard.
By the way, I want to mention that if your cocain is Django, you might use the DjangoPeople service, very nicely done and proven useful. Makes me think I must push on some geolocalization features on Symfonians... Stay tuned.
Edit: We got (roughly alpha) maps.
Notes
[1] Too bad I had some mail blacklist problem :/ Stay tuned for a blog post on this issue.
[2] I had two, one of them is about the fact I play the guitar
[3] Four opensource applications on five are french \o/
[4] Play, say Hi!

Great job niko.
However here some comments:
- When you try to fill the register form, if you're wrong anywhere, a large red div insult you. so we can see the blue head, a white space and a red div : ok ok we already now it's a french app.
- I love your "not tested with ie" icon but why do you have chosen the "win95" blue for the head and foot
- The search engine sux (what ? it's google ? humm ok, google sux) .
- you forget the dedibox icon, dedibox is kwel.
- the jobs table is a bit unreadeable
- it looks a "power by a geek app" (i'm so bad) so if you've a friend who can repaint it.
Sorry for thoses comments
You just managed to gather 150 symfony developer in 3 days... it's more than build an application ... i guess
Hey NiKo
Symfonians is a great idea, happy you found time to develop this....
Hope we'll drink a beer on next thursday at the Symfony Pot
It would be cool to use sfLucene for search to allow you to search for specific details and return results in a relevant format.
Nico> Thanks for these congratulations
hartym> Count me in!
Mike> I've hesitated a bit, maybe I'll implement it one day. This is however not a priority for now...
Yay ! NiKo a été Simonwillisonisé : http://simonwillison.net/2008/Jan/2...
No'> Ma dedibox elle préfère le terme simonwillisonnée
Maps are cool, but you should provide a way for members to locate themselves, eg. in their profile admin. page
